Cognitive Augmented Reality Lab (CARLab)

Cognitive Augmented Reality Lab (CARLab) was established in 2015 in Faculty of Multimedia at Tabriz Islamic Art University. The primary goal of this lab is to study computer games, serious games, game AI, augmented reality and AI Arts. Dr. Sekhavat is the head of this lab who collaborates with several researchers around the world including Canada, Italy and Malta .

آزمایشگاه واقعیت افزوده شناختی با هدف تحقیق و توسعه برنامه های کاربردی در زمینه بازیهای رایانه ای، تعامل انسان و رایانه، هوش مصنوعی در بازی و واقعیت افزوده در اسفند ۹۳ در دانشگاه هنر اسلامی تبریز تشکیل شده است. این آزمایشگاه آماده همکاری با کلیه محققان کشور در زمینه حوزه مورد مطالعه در این آزمایشگاه است.

Serious Games

A serious game or is a game designed for a primary purpose other than pure entertainment. Computer games that are used for education, rehabilitation, scientific exploration, health care, improving cognitive skills and many other purposes are in this category

Human-Computer Interaction

The design and use of innovative technologies with the focus on the interaction between users and computers in novel ways. This field is at the intersection of computer science, behavioural sciences, design, media studies, and several other fields.

Game AI

Measuring intelligence in games, the connections between games and intelligence to offer a new vision of future games and game design and creating smarter games that make us smarter in turn.

  • Kashkak Game

    ,Kashkak Rehabilitation Game: A serious game for knee Rehabilitation, Winner of Nimad Award in Second Serious Games Festival in 2018,SeGap18,Tehran, Iran

    Rehabmap

    Rehabmap is serious game for foot rehabilitation based on video mapping. This serious game has won the second place award in First National Serious Game (SeGap 2017) in Tehran.

    Dashboard

    Dashboard is serious game to improve driving behavior in real life. In this mobile game people compete to drive better. This game has been among finalists of Segap18 in Tehran

    Sketching Challenge

    This application is social network that makes it possible for users to participate in a sketching challenge. This application is designed in 2018, Tabriz.

    TrafficSim

    TrafficSim is a driving simulator to teach traffic rules. This simulator and serious game is has won the Third place in Second Digital Arts Festival in Tabriz, 2018, Iran

    HandRehab

    HandRehab is rehabilitation game including four mini games developed in Cognitive Augmented Reality lab (carlab) in Tabriz Islamic Art University, 2018, Iran.

    Saray

    This award wininnig game in SeaGap2019 helps to learn solfage in a gaming scenario. Designed by Nazanin Farshbaf, Samad roohi, Dr. Sekhavat and Dr. Azadefar

    Tizran

    The best game of the year in Segap 2019. A gamified environment for bycicle training design in carlab, Tabriz Islamic Art University

    KeepStep

    A Rehabilitation Game for MS patients. This Game is designed and developped in CARlab in Tabriz Islamic Art University by Zahra Amiri, Dr. Sekhavat and Dr. goljarian

    Dance To Painting

    This is a project to map movements in dance to a paiting using motion capture device. Performed at carlab by Fatemeh Dastouri and Dr. Yoones Sekhavat

     

    Music Visualization

    This project is about visualizing the Azeri songsby mapping to motion graphics. Performed in carlab by Shaqayegh deldadeh, Dr. Sekhavat and Dr. Azadehfar

     

    Path Finding

    This Project is about finding your path using audio cues. Performed at Tabriz Islamic Art University by S. Poudratchi, Yoones Sekhavat and M. Azadehfar

     

CARLab Team Members

  • Dr. Yoones Sekhavat

    Dr. Yoones A. Sekhavat is an Assistant Professor in Faculty of Multimedia in Tabriz University of Arts. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He also holds a post-doc from University of Alberta in Canada. His research has been published in IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, IET Information Security, and Information Management and Computer Security journals as well as VLDB, ER, and ICSC Conferences. He is the head of the Cognitive augmented reality lab (www.CARLab.ir)

    Prof. Jeffrey Parsons

    Prof. Jeffrey Parsons is the university research professor and the professor of information systems in the Faculty of Business Administration, Memorial University of Newfoundland. His research has been published broadly, including journals such as Nature, Communications of the ACM, the ACM Transactions on Database Systems, the IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, and MIS Quarterly. He has also served as program cochair for a number of conferences, including AMCIS, WITS, and the ER conference. He holds PhD degree in information systems from the University of British Columbia
